The Huffington Post ran an article on November 15th titled, “The End of the Vintage Wedding Trend.” One of our designers brought this article to our attention and I was intrigued. The article shares that the design trend of vintage weddings is overdone and phasing out, from the wedding invitations, to the decorations and wedding dresses. The new style? Classic glamour. The article states that the royal wedding of Prince William Kate Middleton has set a new trend, a return to a more sophisticated style.
What I found the most interesting about the entire article were the reader comments. In full disclosure, I did not read all 175. I read about 50. The majority of those comments disagreed with the sentiment of the article suggesting that vintage has not been overdone and is generally and inexpensive way to decorate. There were some who agreed, suggesting that vintage style offers nothing special and certainly is not formal enough for a wedding. The overwhelming theme from these article readers was that spending an excessive amount on your wedding, especially in a recession, is unnecessary.
