If your impending nuptials are still too far to send out wedding invites, why not send out save the date cards? You can customize them to coordinate with your wedding invitation theme and color palette. You can get creative and have fun with your save the dates too. Save the dates can be less formal than a wedding invite so play around with it and have fun!

I like the idea of a tri-fold save the date. You have 6 panels to customize with photos and you can share your proposal story. It gives guests a sneak peak into how this special day came to be. If a tri-fold doesn’t fit your style, a simple flat card photo save the date is also beautiful and leaves an impact. You can also turn your save the dates into fridge magnets that double as a keepsake for your friends and family. There really are no hard and fast rules to creating them, just make sure they represent you as a couple and your personalities.

Tips for Save the Dates:

  • Save the dates should be sent out between 4 and 6 months before the wedding date. If you are having a destination wedding, you may want to send them out earlier to allow people to plan accordingly.
  • Remember, if you send out square or circle save the date cards they will require a bit of extra postage.
  • Capture all the addresses you send the save the dates to in a spread sheet or online address book to refer to later for the wedding invites and thank you cards.
  • Have fun with your save the dates! It’s the very first glimpse into your lovely wedding day.
Congratulations!
