Whether you’re a couple of biology nerds or simply in search of a magical venue, you can whet your palette with these unique wedding ideas for an aquarium ceremony.
Aquarium Wedding Venues
Aquariums make wonderful wedding venues for many reasons.
Their placid blue exhibits filled with exotic fish and marine life will make your wedding photos look out-of-this-word, many offer plenty of event space, and best of all — some will take care of decorating, food, and setup.
On top of all this, you and your fiance can feel good about pouring your money into a good cause. Most aquariums will donate a portion of what you pay to improving environmental conservation efforts and education.
Here are some of our favorite venues for aquarium weddings.
Hold your wedding among more than 2,000 coral reef fish and sea critters in the Florida Aquarium’s coral reef gallery.
The 500,000 gallon exhibit showcases one of the most beautiful and diverse eco-systems in the world.
The colorful array of sea life will not only leave guests enchanted and entertained throughout your ceremony and reception, but the vast exhibit will add magic, color, and depth to you wedding photos as well.
The aquarium offers a generous wedding package that will make planning for your big day seamless, with decorations, table linens, an event coordinator, food and beverage service, and more included.
You can keep your event a formal sit-down affair or keep guests moving with a strolling reception through many of the aquarium’s in-depth exhibits.
The aquarium also features interactive opportunities, like diving with sharks, swimming with fish in the aquarium’s coral reef exhibit, and a relaxing dolphin cruise on Tampa Bay.
A dining hall looking into Washington Waters, a 120,000 gallon exhibit housing more than 800 fish and invertebrates native to the Pacific Northwest’s waters, (via a 20′ by 40′ window) will be sure to impress, while the Seattle Aquarium’s accommodating full-service wedding option makes planning for your big day a breeze.
You and your guests will love the engaging environment. With Aquarium interpreters on hand to answer questions and wow guests with fascinating facts about the aquarium’s critters and marine life and an exclusive mammal feeding show included in your wedding package, you and your guests will surely be entertained, while learning a few new things about the environment.
Baltimore National Aquarium:
With five levels of award-winning exhibits, picturesque harbor views, more than 17,000 animals, and ample space for events, the Baltimore National Aquarium is spilling over with captivating exhibits and beautiful spots for your wedding.
The Harbor View room and the underwater viewing area, which features a 12′ by 60′ observation window looking into the dolphin tank, are perfect for intimate weddings with guests that number between 50 and 150.
For larger affairs, couples can reserve the aquarium’s spacious atrium or choose to hold their wedding outdoors on the pier in the seasonal Harborside Tent.
Guest will be wowed by the aquariums distinct architecture, vast exhibits, and in-depth presentations and demonstrations, which include shark lectures, tropical fish feeding demonstrations, and a Sea Cliff Puffin demonstration and talk — all of which can be paid for in advance for your wedding.
Make sure to check out the aquarium’s newest exhibit, The Black Tip Reef — a massive tank featuring 20 blacktip reef sharks, green sea turtles, zebra sharks, and more than 700 other animals.
John G. Shedd Aquarium:
Between the beautiful Beaux Arts architecture and diverse array of exhibits, Chicago’s John Shedd Aquarium will help make your wedding day unforgettable.
The building itself is a Beaux Arts masterpiece. Its eye-popping architecture (and ripe age of 84) has earned the aquarium a National Historic Landmark designation.
Some of its most notable features being the bronze (cast) main doors, which feature intricate sea-inspired designs, and the building’s rooftop, which boasts beautiful wave designs and a breathtaking glass dome.
The interior offers dazzling decor, such as animal printed chandeliers, bronze skate sconces with shell shades, and a charming marine inspired clock (in the rotunda).
Beyond gorgeous design elements, the Shedd Aquarium is rich with marine exhibits. It is home to the most diverse collection of animals in the world, which includes a pod of beluga whales, dolphins, and a colorful array of jellies.
